Day 1 Taxi to Airport, Flight to Atlanta, Flight to New York, JFK, Flight to Bangor, ME lunch Checkpoint, Hamburgers to Order
Mear’s Yellow Taxi arrives slightly early with a van because of all our luggage. Curbside check in at Delta is very easy despite four bags to check. No food on route, unless you buy a snack. We bought a snack on the Atlanta to New York leg. It was very tasty, good bagel chips. Bob tried the hummus, didn’t eat loads. It was a bummer to not have my camera with me flying into New York City because we flew in over Manhattan and I got to see the Statue of Liberty in the harbor. In New York, we order hamburgers at the Checkpoint Hamburgers Made to Order. They both come with the right ingredients but well done (Bob requested his rare) and without my drink, although they get it for me quite quickly. The flight to Bangor was very short, but it was delayed. The airport at Bangor was very friendly despite being around 9 when we finished at the airport. Hertz quickly provided a car, one slightly nicer for an additional fee (we got a Ford Escort with four-wheel drive). We checked into the Best Western White House Inn, found ice supplies easily.
