The Dead Sea Scroll exhibit was well done, if a bit tightly crammed into the Pacific Science Center. While we waited for our turn, we browsed bits of the exhibits -- metal bowls to make ring, organ horns, moon paintings, a sea chimney chunk, lots and lots of bugs, and bees, and butterflies. The best part of the Dead Sea Scroll exhibit was it's overview of methods and trials related to reading them and the excavation bits at Qumran. The bits of the scroll were cool to see, but they were hard to look at. Better were some of the translations, but I've already bought the book for Bob a couple years ago. Best little tidbit was the purification rites -- especially the bit of communal lore about searching heads for worms and pus, yuck and the fact that newcomers spent a year becoming worthy of being touched.
Marie Antoinette was a Zoetrope find turned into movie. Luscious cinematography. Focused more on the romance between her and a soldier/count and the lack of sex between her and Louis 16, but strong love of life partners and her fun playing milk maid. Good message about the relations between the US and France and how our war for independence contributed to theirs.
