Bird Songs
My husband Bob was given a book called Bird Songs: 250 North American Birds in Song from his son for his birthday. It features audio from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and was written by Les Beletsky. It's a cool book. You can look up a good variety of the most commonly seen birds in America and learn about their song, which is often quite helpful in identifying which bird you are looking at. Some like the Willow Flycatcher are small and very similar to other birds. When you find the bird by looking in the index, you go to the page where you see a drawing of the bird and a number to enter into the small recording device on the side of the book. This devices allows you to scroll up and down to the proper song and play it. It's a wonderful book, the only odd thing about it is the birds displayed aren't shown ordered the way most field guides show the birds. The descriptions of each bird give a written description of the song and information about the birds breeding and feeding habits.
